TwinBlast - Overview
Previously, TwinBlast had two very strong builds, one revolving around ability spam and raw damage and the other being an on-hit traditional carry setup. As of 6 items, however, the on-hit setup is just better due to the state of items for carries. I've included a hybrid setup in the build variants for those interested in a more ability spam based setup. For the guide I will be covering the on-hit setup.
Crest Options
- Marksman / Liberator: This crest is an absolute must vs certain comps and heroes. If the enemy team has a Riktor, Fey, Aurora, or Gideon then you should default to this automatically. It is also just good in general vs a lot of other characters. If you don't know what to pick, this is always good and also provides a shield on use.
- Marksman / Eviscerator: This is the best crest for shredding through everybody (but especially tanks). If the enemy has no CC threat on you and you feel that you'll be able to get value from this, ideally to shred the enemy front line very fast, then I would recommend going with this.
Core Items
- Storm Breaker: This item was and still is incredibly strong for on-hit builds. Because we are focused on our on-hit and less on our ability spam and mana usage we will take this over Resolution for the massive damage output it provides and synergy with our other on-hit items.
- Sky Splitter: This item is to help with shredding everyone but especially tanks. It also synergizes really nicely with Stormbreaker because of the double proc whenever your Stormbreaker procs.
- Kingsbane: Another really strong on-hit item that also gives Ability Haste which is super strong on TwinBlast because of the strength of his Q (LB/L1) and RMB (RB/R1). We choose this over Dust Devil 3rd because of the huge benefit TwinBlast gets from more ability spam.
Finalizing Build
These are generally the last 3 items you will want to build, however, the order of these items can vary depending on what you need the soonest.
- Demolisher: This item is a staple for basically all carries. Even with armor currently being weaker, this item provides a huge boost in damage vs anybody that isn't a carry or midlaner. I would always default to this as your 4th item unless the enemy team only has 1 frontliner that isn't causing any real problems. In that case you can delay building this and pickup Dust Devil or Lightning Hawk 4th.
- Tainted Rounds: This item is still the go to late game on-hit item. While it falls just short of Sky Splitter and Kingsbane, it is still extremely powerful and should be build after Demolisher to continue scaling our on-hit synergy with Storm Breaker. If you are vs a very squishy team or a team with no frontline threat, you can get away with building this 4th.
- Lightning Hawk: This item has been buffed for on-hit builds and is still incredibly strong on TwinBlast especially with the buff to attack speed on it. This is a great item to wrap up the build and the on-hit effect hits like a truck with our Q (LB/L1) at full build. This allows us very powerful poke even into the late game and a lot of raw damage when doing sustained DPS.
Situational Items
- Equinox: If you are having trouble staying alive, I would recommend building Equinox as your 5th item and dropping Lightning hawk. This item has very good raw stats and provides a huge shield to help you survive burst.
Skill Order
TwinBlast's skill order pretty linear and I would always recommend the following:
PC: R > Q > RMB > E
Xbox: LB+RB > LB > RB > LT
PS: L1+R1 > L1 > R1 > L2
Prioritizing maxing Q (LB/L1) before RMB (RB/R1) is very important to take full advantage of the on-hit effects it provides.
Tips and Tricks
Make sure to weave in 4 attack attacks (2 and 2) between each ability! This ensures you are maximizing your DPS with TwinBlast's passive. Try to hold your Storm Breaker stacks to poke with your Q (LB/L1) on-hit effect at 120% damage while laning. Your ultimate is weak with this build so don't use it for raw dps, try to hold it to execute fleeing enemies.
