Predecessor Builds > Gideon > Beginners Build Guide for Gideon (Build Only)

Hey guys! Thrandimir here, former Master Paragon player, Gideon OTP, and long time MOBA lover, giving you a quick guide to the best hero in Predecessor (and in Paragon): Gideon. The more intricate guide I’ll be posting later for those wanting to master his kit and really see why Gideon can fit into any team comp.

As with any Hero you play, your builds should never be invariable. They should adapt to your scenario and circumstances each game, and sometimes minute to minute. HOWEVER, this is a Beginners guide, therefore I’ve created a build you’ll want to use every game until you’re comfortable branching off into your own build path or wanting to look at the in-depth guide later.
So here’s the What/Why;

Starter Item should always be Magicians Crest into Soulbearer

1ST ITEM: Azure Core; Gideon is notoriously mana hungry and often has to back after just 1 extended fight. This item helps to alleviate some of that negative pressure. Also, once it’s passive kicks in, you’re getting almost 100 Ability Power from 1 item!

2ND ITEM: Megacosm: The DoT damage helps to whittle down your opponents, especially tanky ones. Plus, more mana and ability haste to make sure you can machine gun those sky rocks

3RD ITEM: Wraith Leggings: Flat pen + bonus damage to low HP targets makes it an easy choice to pick up. Grants Movespeed on ability damage allowing you to kite or chase easier too

4TH ITEM: Lifebinder: A moderate HP and magical lifesteal boost are great for sustainability (paired with Soulbearer active, gives you almost 40% magical life steal for a short time)

5TH ITEM: Combustion: Burst damage + AoE damage, along with some flat pen and mana. An argument can be made that this item should be bought sooner given its flat pen and aid to farming. While I’m not entirely sold on that theory, I will say that you can change the placement of this and Megacosm and see what you like better.
