Shinbi Offlane v0.4.4

Early Game Notes

  • If you're facing a melee hero then (E) + passive allow you to play very aggressively but if you're facing a ranged hero or you want to play safe then grab (Q->RMB->Q) first so you can last hit from a distance.
  • If the enemy jungle would start on your side of the map you may want to put a skill level into your dash second.
  • Avoid using your dash unless you're escaping or guaranteed a kill as it is a huge mana sink.
  • Your passive makes it really easy to kill cyan buff in the early game without mana so take advantage of it when your enemy is distracted/recalled.
  • Shinbi is capable of soloing mini prime with 1-2 t3 items.

The Build

  1. Tempest: Useful stats and provides good sustain and pairs well with your Circle Rhythm(E) shield as you can heal behind it. Obelisk is another good option as obelisk + oathkeeper + passive has insane burst but would be better on jungle to stack the souls faster.
  2. Oathkeeper: Does a crazy amount of damage when paired with your passive and allows you to deal large amounts of damage by weaving your basic attacks. Also provides good stats and a large amount of ability haste.
  3. World Breaker: Really easy to stack up between Circle Rhythm and basic attacks and provides a nice amount of tenacity and magic damage.
  4. Oblivion Crown: Provides some extra burst and a nice m.atk boost for Oathkeeper.
  5. Megacosm: Good HP% damage for taking down tanky enemies (useful against Rampage/Sev)
  6. Warden's Faith: Counter to crit ADC's and flat cooldown reduction when hit by basic attacks can help turn the tide of battle. Replacing dream binder in the main build as I felt that didn't have a lot of impact as the last item unless you have a lead.

Physical Damage Counters

These are alternative 1st/2nd items to build when reacting to the enemy damage typing. If jungle and offlane are both physical damage then building 2 of these items first can help immensely with ganks.

  • Golem's Gift/Timewarp: The aggressive choices that can mitigate physical damage without sacrificing as much wave clear and kill potential.
  • Frostguard: The more defensive version of Dreambinder.

Magical Damage Counters

These are alternative 1st/2nd items to build when reacting to the enemy damage typing. If jungle and offlane are both magical damage then building 2 of these items first can help immensely with ganks.

  • Flux Matrix/Spellbreaker: The offensive options that still mitigate a decent amount of magical damage.
  • Tainted Bastion: Anti-heal alternative for magic heavy team comps.

Mana Options

Shinbi is pretty good with mana due to the low cost (Q) but if you spam dashes you may find yourself running into problems.

  • Azure Core: Slows down your early game and takes awhile to stack but in the isolated offlane you can make it work.
  • Caustica: Useful if you need penetration while also providing good mana recovery when you fall below 50% MP

Damage Options

The build has items that give both health and good damage but these are some items to boost your damage further.

  • Tainted Scepter: Grab this first or second if facing countess in lane or can grab later if facing a heal heavy team comp.
  • Wraith Leggings: Allows you to stick to enemies more successfully while boosting your assassination ult.
  • Prophecy: Some good extra basic attack damage though the game is very CC heavy so you may find it hard to get more than a few in per fight.
  • Dreambinder: Extra damage and more durability while making it hard for enemies to run away.

Final Notes

  • All in all Shinbi seems to have strong offlane potential and is very difficult to gank while having one of the best cyan buff clear speeds.
  • I mentioned it earlier but I don't find attack speed that useful on these magical melee heroes as most the fight you're under CC so when you do get basics in they should be the heavy Oathkeepers.
  • Added wardens faith into the main build due to its late game impact over dream binder and the recent price reduction.
