Gideon's core strength lay in his mobility and ability to do AOE CC and AOE damage. Avoid the 1v1 fights unless you know you can win them, use your teleport abilty to sneak attack enemy lanes and setup kills for your team. Focus on staying alive and keeping up consistant damage.
You can activate Soulbearer (Crest) while ulting to gain spell lifesteal, This acts as a form of sustain, letting you commit to the ult longer. Pairing this with truesilver bracelets lets you ult fairly safely during team fights. You can swap out True silver if they are not running any CC.
Life Binder and Megacosm are very similar stat wise and could be swapped out. Megacosm is used as an Anti-Tank item and magic life steal in Life Binder for longer drawn-out fights. Swap these out as you see fit.
