About Muriel and This Build – V0.18.3

Muriel is a hero that is meant to be aggressive early game that rolls into a late-game support that makes her allies nearly indestructible. She's small, and doesn't do a lot of damage mid to late game and I think that's beneficial because she's not often targeted for that reason alone. Since her shields scale with magic power I build Oblivion Crown as a last item. It rarely gets to that point, but when it does your shields are absolutely huge.

Updated May 23, 2024 – I think Muriel is actually stronger with the V0.18 Update than before. Even though Wellspring has been removed, I think Lunaria is still an okay substitute as you should be helping your carry do damage with your slow and autos, and Serenity does more damage now. Alacrity has been buffed – when you max out this build, your carry will get something like +75% attack speed, which is so good! Once your first three core items are built ramp up that magic power to make your shields enormous. The high ability haste will help cast your shields asap

Abilities

Your first ability should always be Serenity, but it will be your last ability you max. Focus on poking the enemies in your lane as much as possible early and use it focus a target to help secure kills in the laning phase. When you want to push harder, use serenity to hit the entire minion wave to help your carry clear. Max out your Consecrated Ground, then Alacrity, while upgrading your ult when available.

Trinket

Your trinket should be one of the wands, but most often Tranquility. Its cooldown is very short, and the healing scales with your magic power, Wellspring, and Crystal Tear. It's just better for you early and late game than Sanctification since the health gained is permanent, unlike the shield that Sanctification gives you, and it can heal greater amounts than the shield only temporarily provides. However, Silentium is a viable option for shutting down Gideon ults. Or, Reclamation for saving your allies, or yourself, from Riktor or Fey Abilities.

Main Build – Be Aggressive Early Game

Contrary to the most popular builds, I build Marshall first for the attack speed for my carry. Muriel's shields are weak early game so building Crystal Tear first is not necessary because Marshall provides lot of mana regen, some ability haste, more magic power, and on-hit damage for your carry, which allows you to continue being aggressive early-game. However, Everbloom is great first item option for the health, shielding, damage mitigation, and tenacity it provides. But, it is critical that you build Lunaria & Crystal Tear for the Shield and Healing Bonuses they provide.

Flex Items

This is where I say your last three items are flex depending on your needs. I put Crescelia as a fourth item for the magic power and ability haste. But, you already get a lot of haste whenever an ally is healed or shielded while you have Crystal Tear, so it's not required. It's just nice being able to use Alacrity on cooldown. Spellbreaker is great for the magic power percentage increase and spell bubble – go for bigger magic power items at this point. I don't think Tainted Totem is very necessary for Muriel as allies typically build their own tainted items, but it's an option for going against heroes that heal if your team isn't building anything tainted.
